"centering" Scope reticle

Of course given the usually poor British engineering -

Bentley, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce... Supermarine Spitfire, Gloster Meteor, Hawker Siddler Harrier... The Chunnel, The Thames Barrier, The London Eye, The Millennium Dome, The Gherkin...

Such bad engineers... ;)

To others: nice trick with the mirror, thanks for the tip! :)

spoken like a man who has never worked on a Jaguar v12 or E-Type or a Lotus, or a Sunbeam or any British manufactured Ford ... or peaked inside ANY British made TV or Radio (including the rats nest of a receiver from a Lanc I have in my basement...) JEEEEZUS!!! I will agree that my Quad stereo stuff is nicely made inside ... but my 405-2 amp has been in for repair three f'n times. And no - I have not worked on a Rolls ... over priced barges... however I know several men who have that will tell you to save your money and buy a Lexus! (and yes .. I am half limey -- have lived there and have high regard for the low standards of their mechanical achievement!

Put up against a mirror.
Twist turrets until both crosshairs you see become one.

:agree:
Set the scope on minimum magnification first then put a mirror flush with the objective bell.
You'll see 2 sets of cross hairs.
Turn the knobs until they superimpose (or close to superimpose)

LOL AP! So the British electronics aren't up to Japanese/Korean/American level. Imagine that! Somehow I'm not very surprised: have the Brits ever been known for their electronics industry?

But I've been talking about engineering (mechanical, civil, aeronautical), not simply how easy it is to change a part on the car. You don't build a luxury car for ease of maintenance, that's what you do on a Challenger tank. And how often is a Rolls in the garage, anyway? :d

The gist of my post was meant to hint that you were overgeneralizing. Not all Brit engineering is bad, by a long way. For rifles: Accuracy International?

"The gist of my post was meant to hint that you were overgeneralizing" .. perhaps a little - but as I grew up in an environment that believed "British - therefore best!".. it took me quite a while to understand that the "Empire" had no clothes! I wince every time I think of their "modern" plumbing with chains hanging out of the ceiling and water leaking everywhere; or the wax paper that they dispensed as toilet paper ... or those cold damp houses with bugger all insulation .. and piss poor heating. A/C? non-existent! smog filled streets and dirty grimy buildings, warm beer and rude shop keepers! Maybe the Accuracy International is a pretty good rifle ... but jeez - at the price they ask -- it should be. North American shooters have been able to meet those accuracy standards with Remington 700's that you can buy at Cabela's (used to be Eatons and Sears!) .. who but a Brit would include instructions on how to "de-coke" an engine in the owners manual -- with a few "general instructions" on how to remove the cylinder head on a Saturday in your driveway - as routine maintenance!!!!! Give me a break!

(somewhere I still have a British made hammer that broke - I am almost certain it is in the same drawer with a British made screwdriver that snapped it's tip off! I keep them as reminders to never buy British if I can at all avoid it)

It is a damn good rifle, I will never part with mine or wish to replace it with anything else made on earth (and this is coming from a central European type Ja).

While its accuracy is certainly top notch, it is the extreme robustness, reliability, out of this world machining and smooooooth action that is its true appeal.

WOW... makes sense I guess. I will have to try this!

Eh, no worries, I'm glad you have a good bit of critical thinking! There's too many of us here that seem to think only with their gonads, and you certainly seem to have the experience to bear the negativity about Brit mechanical engineering. :d

About the beer: but but but... nice dark ale is MEANT to be warm! I end up always having to let my beers sit for 20 minutes 'cause they come out from a damned refrigerated tap. Granted, all those American piss-water lagers and pilsners have to be ice cold just to be barely palatable, but it's a sin to freeze a nice smooth red or dark brown ale or stout! :)

Count the total amount of turns, then go back half. Life's too short to count all the clicks and the clicks match the markings anyway. Except for mounting a scope in windage adjustable mounts too much is made of centering a scope in its adjustments. Its not like its going to stay there after you sight in.

Sounds good.
There are definitely too many clicks to count..... :)
