So, Centre axis relock. Whats your guy's opinions?

Quick google search if you're uninitiated.
Its a stance which involves presenting your side to the target, facing 90 deg away. You hold pistol at fourty five degree angle with both hands in normal clasp, your left arm is quite bent, almost resembling olympic biathlon stance.

Lower profile, but you can only "crab" quickly, and in one direction.

Legit?

Let's see - Ken Hackathorn, Larry Vickers, Paul Howe, Kelly McCann, Jason Falla, Mick Gould and Dave Harrington - just the start of a long list of real life high speed operators and instructors who do not teach or use this method. They can't all be wrong. There are lots more, none of whom teach this method.

After watching one of the videos, I can see two applications. One is to shoot around a barricade on the opposite side of your strong hand, the second is a driver shooting out of his left side window. In those situations it could be a useful technique, but I wouldn't choose it as a primary shooting style like Weaver or Isosceles.

I'll go on record with "incredibly ####ing stupid" technique. Not only do the above named instructors not shoot this stupid style, a bunch of them and other top named instructors, specifically talk about how stupid it is, how dangerous it is, and other problems associated with it.
Did I say I think it's ####ing stupid? If not, it's ####ing stupid.

Did I mention that because the CF were dumb enough to hire the clown in the video to teach some of their people (or at the very least they paid themselves) that in many respected small arms schools, they are laughed at? I've had numerous instructors ask if that's the standard of training for the CF and that if it is, they specifically won't come to Canada to teach as they think we are obviously too stupid as a nation to learn anything useful.

My $0.02

It was "invented" by airsoft..... need I say more? (can't verify that, but I believe it) you know, ppl like cmbg6 (spl?), who say #### like " you know how you clear a room? Throw a maroon beret in it. "

It's ####ing stupid, besides the above mentioned real shooters discrediting it, three things I have major issues with;

1) there's no sight picture. (just shooting in the bad guys general direction, you'll probably hit him. Center of mass? BAH! Just shoot!)

2) there's no stable platform. (it's all fun and games shooting airsoft, .22, or even 9mm, I wanna see someone shoot .50, .44, .357, hell even .45 like that. Train as you'd fight........ with all weapons.

3) this is funny... all real warriors nowadays wear body armor (and even some mall security too). Not one training method that I know of teaches you to turn your body so your uncovered area is toward the enemy. Which conveniently is my weak hand side with my heart.

It's ####ing stupid.

Okay I totally need to "Z scan" at the end of every stage at Provincials this weekend... lol

How can it not be good with a badass moniker like "center axis relock"? It just *sounds* like science!

Well let's hope the system dies with him. Cancer sucks and I feel for his friends and family. But it was still a stupid ####ing way to shoot guns. I can point to half a dozen of my students who can shoot faster with more control and actually aiming their shots from those same distances and out to much further distances than contact. Using a standard, accepted across the planet, shooting technique (called using your ####ing sights)

We had a guy try this at our range once (ONCE) and it works as poorly as one would expect. We had to ask him to stop as he was hitting walls, floor and baffles, and scaring the other members due to the dangerous muzzle control the system results in.

looks stupid, this is mall cop BS. the whole reason combat troops are taught to square off is to maximize use of your armor plate. if you stand sideways you're a smaller target indeed, but really only by about 20%. if you do get hit however you now have no protection from your armor. assuming you're not wearing armor, the bullet now has an enfilade on your internal organs and you're more likely to be killed by fewer hits.

I don't know much about this technique, and have never shot it, but my understanding was that weapon retention was the priority in a face to face fight or from inside a vehicle..

It isn't a long range tactic.

{hypothetically speaking} If the threat is eliminated quickly and efficiently in this "face to face fight" retention concerns fall by the way side. This technique looks like someone's pipedreams rather than anything close to effective.
Can somebody help me out with Castles RH shooters aim with left eye because their LS "brained" nonsense? What happened to shooting with your dominant eye/eyes? I'm not even going to touch the "Z" scan/ tunnel vision ridicules nonsense!

I spit my coffee out reading this.. after having the visual of someone at an indoor range trying this out.

Mall cop. Paul Blart Mall Cop to be more precise.

For us older eyesight challenged folks holding the gun up that close is a sure way to not be able to aim at all. Never mind the sights, the whole GUN would be fuzzy! Hell, I'm sure I'm not the only one that wishes that their arms were LONGER..... :D

I suppose that there's SOME application to this idea in terms of keeping the gun in close and away from an assailant's grabs or swings while maintaining an ability to move quickly fore or aft. After all, it uses the fairly classic martial arts "T" style stance for body, legs and feet. Or at least I assume it does since he's presenting it as a natural progression from a physical/hand to hand self defense stance. But at best it would be useful for really close in handgun presentation.

There's another reason not to use this system if you're a peace officer or someone that wears body armour. It presents the non-armoured side of the rib cage to possible attack if there is a fear of a gun or knife being used.

It may be an emergency technique...well, used in emergency only.
I see no reason to compromise a stable, turret like platform, fairly good sights picture and exposing the area that is not covered by the body armor to the threat.

I just googled this, as I had never heard of it before. The first video that came up was "Center Axis Reload: Shoot Like A Boss." Definitely calling this a Mall Ninja Wet Dream Technique.

I'd love to see this tried with a hard kicking handgun. In fact, I'd pay to see it. When the back of the slide smacks the a$$hole holding the gun in the face, I'd have fits of laughter that would pay for themselves.
