Centrefire Rifles

With all the offerings there are, I would choose imperial half brass and double XX winchesters over them all. Again this is my oppinion, but I know that i see my true potential with a 12 gauge and my hunting style and my targets with these shells. Target? Seaducks.

Now I see! It was a trick question! I thought you said calibre?

For me it is AA 12 gauge 1 oz. 7 1/2 at 1180 f.p.s.:)

Of all of these I think that the 300 WSM is one of the best.

It obviously tricked you, since the 300wsm is not a caliber. It is a cartridge that uses the same caliber bullet as the 308win,30-06,300win mag and many other cartridges.

"...There is no "best cartridge" or "best load"...only your rifle can tell you which will shoot the most accurate in your rifle..." Exactly. Even the most expensive factory loaded ammo with the most expensive premium bullets, in any cartridge or calibre, may not shoot well out of your rifle. You must try as many brands and bullet weights as you can to find the factory ammo your rifle shoots best. The cost of said ammo means nothing either.

I agree with this, take a rifle in a chambering you like and shoot as many as you can find loadings, until you get one you like. Then stock up on as much as you can afford!

I agree with JYC, it all depends in the quarry.
Any of the popular 30 cal. would be a good choice, 30-30, 308,
30-06, 300 WM. Depends on your ability, the game, and distance.
If you are looking at small calibers it's hard to beat the 243 WCF.

I would say 30-06 would be the most common with the widest range of factory offerings when it comes to bullet weights and construction.

But I don't own one, and reload so it's not something I'm worried about

i'd go with an '06 just because it's been there, done it all- then the RIFLE WILL DICTATE WHAT AMMO IT LIKES- i've got 4 m14's and each one likes a different recepie- then my savage 99 and my 742 again different

I amsurprised that so many of you have not tried some factory cartridge and said, holy s**t, this is the one. And asked what cartridge you use, your bias comes spewing out as if no other cartridges exist.

No need to try factory cartidges when I know that my handloads are more consistant and will give me better performance down range at the range or in the bush.

Lots of other cartridges are out there but my .308 is the one for me. No way can the factory load as accurate as I do.
