I'm starting to think I need synthetic or poly furniture for my old girl. She loves to be let go on a bench, or prone. Problem is, even though she's slim, she's freakin heavy! I don't shoulder fire for accuracy only because of the fatigue.

Anybody know or ever heard of a conversion for a Centurion model 100? (ever heard of a centurion?) Let me know. I'd like to use it for hunting again (my dad's old deer/moose gun) and would much rather haul it around after some weight loss.


 
I'm unfamiliar with this model but if you include a picture of the bolt it could be it is one of many mauser variants or some other relatively common action for which aftermarket stocks are available. You can lighten a wooden stock by drilling holes under the recoil pad and milling a channel in the fore end, just be careful you don't drill through the stock. Another way to lighten the rifle is to go for a lighter scope like a Leupold 4x Fx as this will often loose a 1/4 lb from many other scopes.
 
Pretty sure the Centurion is a surplus military action conversion, done by Globco in the 50's. Not sure if you can get a drop-in stock for it, but likely could modify one from a M98.
