Hi guys

i just want to know that CF-98 pistol at lever arms has a chrom lined barrel or not.and how is its over all performance.

You mean the $600 norinco? I don't think anyone was too quick to jump on that, or anything else that lever sells for that matter.

 So you want one of us to call Lever Arms and ask them your question and get back to you with the answer? (604) 736 2711 or 736 0004

They are priced a little high and not a big seller. I was looking at it and instead got a norinco m77b. The m77b and np20 have the same action, gas-retarded inertia action. Do a search here or google. Not sure what it looks like. hope this helps AGE

I fondled it at Lever like 2-3 years ago when my girlfriend was looking for her first pistol. She looked at various of the Norincos but went with a used Beretta 92.

The CF-98 is actually pretty cool. I sometimes think about whether I should buy one, but then I think, "naw... so many other guns I want more". It is an "elegant", slender looking gun in person. It is not a block like a lot of the guns we have in the West these days. It reminds me of a Browning Hi-power in some ways.

The extractor is mounted on the top of the gun (in what I would call the "one o'clock" position - when looking down the sights back to front... whereas the normal extractor position on 95% of modern handguns is in the "three o'clock" position).

The frame is polymer/plastic, whatever you want to call it. I personally would be more interested in this gun if it were all steel construction - but it is not. And, I would probably like it better as a single-stack, but it is not (at least, I'm 99% sure I remember the ones Lever has are double-stack). Unfortunately, the gun was not designed to be an exotic firearm for western collectors, it was made to try and provide Chinese military personel with a modern, double-stack, polymer frame handgun.

One of the massive downsides with this gun is... mags, holsters, parts.... I think you can basically forget about any of that. Other Norinco dealers (Marstar, CanAmmo, etc. don't even seem to stock the gun, let alone mags, holsters, or parts. I personally wouldn't want to rely on Lever for the continued functioning of my gun).

If you have everything in your collection, and you are not going to run it that hard anyway, or you collect Chinese firearms, or military firearms, or whatever, then sure. It's not that expensive and it definiately is unusual... but I'd personally rather have $600 worth of factory 9mm than this 9mm pistol.

Edit: I see now it is only $490. That might change the equation somewhat, but not much. I think Lever has had a hard time getting rid of them to be honest. I am at the shooting ranges in Vancouver every weekend, year after year, and I don't recal ever seeing one at the range.

It basically looks like this: (also see the Lever page)
