CF small arms trial completed

Sig P320 variation incoming....don't know why it hasn't been announced yet, probably due to the election which slowed all sorts of decisions down in ottawa.

Harry, Some talk trough their ass and know nothing how procurement work.
I’s not the first nonsense post and won’t be the last.

hahaha yeah some of us know people involved in previous procurements. The "lobbying" done on behalf of manufacturers, of all sorts of different materials, is quite commonly more effective than any testing or scrutiny done to submitted articles.
have there been clean and upfront procurements? sure, have there been some dirty ones? Oh hells yes and of course those are the ones most talked about and stay in the mind

The CF has moved away from user input on specifications on the firearms to actual field trials on them with functionality and mean failure rate . They are also only interested in off the self platforms no more specialized purpose built custom guns .

Crazy, right?

I mean... where would anybody get that ridiculous idea?

I mean... I'm sure that Canadian prostitutes would only do such things internationally.

SNC-Lavalin spent $1.95M on escorts, booze for Libyan dictator’s son

Trudeau says he was "protecting Canadian jobs" when asked about $30K prostitute bill for Gaddafi by SNC-Lavalin

SNC-Lavalin’s Bebawi guilty on all counts: Libyan bribery scandal

I heard trudeau personally has said Canada will be getting cf98 pistols and Gen3 type 97's to replace the rifles

couldn't happen in Canada, all government procurements are always squeaky clean, always. There is never any shady business ever. EVER.
I mean seriously, even before the stuff you posted there have been scandals, impropriety, back room deals, drugs, prostitutes, blackmail, bribery I mean, everything under the sun has been used to secure deals for government contracts, from weapon systems to accounting systems.

Just get it done. At this point anything plastic other than BHP is good. I am happy we get SIG. Actually I am happier the fact that they get anything else other than glock, glock is for big hands only and not everyone in the army who need to shoot pistols are big boys infantry. Most noobs with hands smaller than large will shoot glock left and lower, and they will never get enough coaches who know how to shoot pistols and enough ammo to train these noobs in the big army.

I have seen enough medium sized noobs struggling with Glock, and they all bought glocks because it is what the cops use. Perhaps lives will be easier if SIG is the new pistol, so all these noobs will buy SIG to follow the big army, and they may actually make their own learning curve much easier.

Glocks get a fail because disassembly requires a dry fire....bad juju

funny how Glocks are the most common issued pistol to Law enforcement across NA and countless others in civilian hands, yet soldiers can't clear a firearm before disassembly.

in all fairness, one of the biggest flaws I have seen though is that they have tendency to dryfire as part of the proving safe process. That right there is bad juju and poor policy.

Boltgun

backwards thing? hmm, well, its kind of historical....the US military refused to adopt a repeating breach loader at one time because soldiers would only waste their ammo

Now that I have at least one pistol that does not have to be fired to strip the slide, I can see that is a good requirement. Same thing for a mag disconnect.

It would save lives.

Even Joe Darwin should have a chance to live.

Are you saying that it should have a mag disconnect?

The majority of negligent discharges with the hi power are because of the mag disconnect. Most are not experienced or trained enough on the hi power and make a mistake while clearing the gun by reinserting the mag prior to dropping the slide. Pull the trigger and…. Yes they didn’t perform the drill properly but that error would be eliminated if you didn’t have to insert a mag to fire the action.
