CFC approval time

I completed 2 transfers last Monday and I'll be calling this Monday to check. Last sat. I bought a revolver at an auction (I was an online bidder) and when I called the dealer tues they had my ATT waiting for me already. This is in Ontario. Tc

Ok...so looks like dealer transfers take precedent...to be expected. Not hatin' just observin' :)

That's hopeful. After waiting 13 months for my S&W 1911 Anny ON dealer started transfer on Wed. Great if tfr was just 6 days.
ordered from a dealer in Alberta, I am in BC, took 6 working days for transfer to be done.

Dealer transfers always take precedent. It is revenue generating business after all.

Ordered my first handgun (ever) from Gary at Wanstall's on Friday morning. He emailed me last night to tell me the transfer is done and it ships on Monday. After reading the wait times in this thread, I'm absolutely amazed how quick that happened. Maybe I should stop whining about living in Ontario?

Have done a number of transfers both from stores and privately as both buyer and seller and the longest one was three days, all in Ontario!

The times i have spoken to the CFO they have been extremely prompt and helpful.

That was the normal scene here in BC for the last 3-4 years.....something changed because it used to be Ontario was bad....

Well I'll tell you right now I'm only waiting so long for my first restricted to be approved before I cancel my order. I have a $1000 sitting in limbo that I'd rather be in my account. This is a bunch of bull$hit the wait time. The government already approved the restricted license which allows me to own a restricted firearm so sign the GD paper so the rest of us can get on with our lives. I don't enjoy checking my status everyday just to see it hasn't gone through yet. It's only been a week and I'm already frustrated with the wait. I've got maybe 1-2 weeks left in me before I pull the plug. Nothing at all against the retailer I know it's not their fault but if the BC CFO can't get their $hit together I'd rather spend my money in Ontario. Sorry for the rant but come on seriously.........

The sellers province is not the issue, it is the buyers province. If you are in ON it is faster, even when buying from BC, and vice versa.

I purchased my handgun from wolverine and I'm in Alberta. It took one day for wolverine to process it, waited a few days then found out from the CFC that I needed to fax in proof of membership for a gun range. I faxed it in the same day and the next day it was approved. Now I'm just waiting for shipping. Total time from ordering to receiving the gun will be 13days.

Here's my update...today it's approved (ON --> BC). Total of 9 business days. This was a private deal...not my first restricted by far...a new record for slowness for me. Thanks BC CFO :jerkit:

Have you called them. I am also on the Island, In Victoria and it took 1.5 months to get the paperwork done. My 9mm is finally on the way and should be here by weeks end. I applied on 30 July.

I've been waiting 4 months. It's my first. They waited 2 months to send me my Transportation licence. My advice is Apply now for your Transport licence and send in a copy of your clubs membership to your provinces office. You can fax both.

Spoke to BC CFO today (Alberta CFO taking calls for BC CFO so BC CFO can catch up). They are processing Sept. 4th transfers as of today (Sept 17th). So BC is about 9 business days behind.

We have been very fortunate in BC until this year, transfers times in BC were always 1-3 business days, lately we have seen transfer times up to 3-4 weeks in BC, especially during the month of July and Aug. According to one of the BC CFOs, there is a big rush of restricted firearm purchases this year. Not sure how much truth in that statement.

Heard today on the CBC radio Provinces can have their own long gun registries. They can start from scratch.Don't trust the Government and their flunkies.

The quarterly statistics published by the RCMP do not show a significant increase in the number of restricted firearms in BC.
