I have read somewhere (can't find it at this time) that RCBS Chargemaster was having issues with CFE223. It's such a fine powder that it trickles through seals and end up somewhere where powder doesn't belong and cause machine to fail/stop working.

Is that a rare thing? I just got se CFE 223 and scared to use my chargemaster, I don't even know where receipt is for warranty if needed. Lee scoops and Gempro take forever(I don't have regular dispenser).

Can you guys confirm please. Am I just being paranoid? Should I be concerned?

I've heard about the CFE 223/ChargeMaster issue too. If I remember correctly that came from RCBS. I have quit using my ChargeMaster because the Harrell's measure is so much quicker. It was taking 45-50 seconds per charge for the CM and the Harrells measure was about 25 seconds weighing and topping up with an RCBS 10-10 scale. Ball powders meter perfectly with my PM.

I use CFE and many other fine grain ball powders without a problem in my Chargemaster, and the seals should prevent what you are talking about. That being said it only takes one bad seal to start raging rumors on the internet.

I have never heard that "rumor" so fill up the hopper and go to town.

I've ran at least 10pounds of CFE223 through my Lyman digital dispenser/scale with no problems whatsoever. The RCBS one couldn't be that much worse? Could it?

So for $h1ts and giggles I called rcbs. They said some earlier units had problem where gap between dropper tube and housing was too much and fine powders would get through and clog up the dispenser. That problem was taken care of few years ago, so if you have newer model, it's not a problem and you are G2G

It happened to my chargemaster after maybe 10 charges. Contacted RCBS and they told me it was a known issue. Apparently they had fixed that problem on models made shortly after mine which was maybe 3-4 years ago.

I still won't use cfe223 in mine buts that's just me being careful.

I will say that rcbs has good customer support and warranty.
