CFE223 in new Hornady Manual?

I finally got a chance to take a Savage 223 I bought a year ago to the range foe the second time (pistol shooter and two small children); the first time out had me parting it out, but I found it likes Hornady V Max loads quite well. As I have some of the V Max bullets from when I owned a 22-250, I thought I would load some up and see if I can beat the factory ammo for accuracy.

I was looking at the Hodgon website and I see really good velocities out of the new CFE 223 powder. Does anyone know if it is in the new Hornday manual? I hate to buy the new manual to find out it is not in there (I have an old one now).
 
You should have great fun with that rifle .. I have a 12BTC SS and it likes the heavier bullets 69 gr.. can't wait to get out with it again this year..
 
26 grains of CFE223 is my standard load now. Excellent accuracy with 50 and 53 grain Vmax as well as the best load I found for Varmeggedons,
Shooting from a Savage 25 with a 1-9 twist.

Every year I buy the Hodgdon's reloading "magazine" and it has the advantage of yearly updates, and the 2012 issue had an article on CFE223 and loading the .223.

I have seen the info for the 223 on the Hodgon Data website, but there was nothing for the 55 grain Hornady V Max. Whereevr possible, I like to get the actual data for the bullet I am using.

Look at the Hornady manual data above, the max load for the five different 55 grain bullets and CFE223 is 27.4 grains, and the Hodgdon's load data is 27.8 for the Speer 55 grain soft point.

Loading data isn't written in stone and as you can see with the Hornady manual it list five type 55 grain bullets.

Bottom line, compare load data from several sources for a given bullet weight and it doesn't have to be the exact bullet you are loading.

I shoot many type 55 grain bullets in my AR15s and .223 bolt action and the bullet is just one of many components that can effect chamber pressure and then you have variations in the firearms themselves. The reloading components you use and the rifle you fire your reloads in will tell you a story about the actual pressure during your workup loads.
 
I try to take a look at multiple data sources, but I do not understand why some people find it odd to actually want to see the data for the specific bullet you want to use. I try to reference the powder data and the bullet data at least before working up a load.

In looking at the Hornady values above, I see that the max charge they recommend is slightly less than the Hodgon Data Center values for the Speer 55 gr. bullet.

I am quite surprised by the difference in powder charges for Varget; I have some here and may use it if I cannot find CFE223 soon.
 
I went up to 27gr with varget and 53gr vmax. That is a long bullet as well. No pressure signs in my axis. Col was 2.244" but 25.7gr shoots the best in that gun and is just over 3000 fps. Very nice bc on that 53gr as well. Everything I shoot with it falls hard.
