I just got a can of CFE 223 powder in my Christmas stocking. Has anyone tried this powder yet and would you guys like to share your results?
It seems to be almost a replica of BLC-(2) in appearance so what about performance?

I just finished a jar of 748 and have cfe223 to try. May try it next to see how it is ,if I remember correctly it says a few more gr over the 748 to start ? Any info would be good for me as well.

IIRC CFE is a little slower than Varget, and slower than BL-C(2). Not by much. In the 222 it performs similar to BL-C(2) with about 1 grain more powder.

I would just check Hodgdon online reloading data if I was you.

I have used it in my 308win I use 150gr nos e-tip at a 2.8col 51grs of cfe gets about 2850fps 2 yards I group 1inch to 3/4 depends on my day lol.
also loaded 208gr hdy a-max at a 2.82col and 43grs of cfe gets about 2320fps groups a bit better then at 200yds so far but the 150gr I use to hunt deer with. and shot out of a savage 10tr 20inch barrel

My favourite powder in 223 with 24.5gn under a 55gn V-Max bullet. Took some time to perfect in my VZ 58 and it'll put 5 rounds in one inch off the bench at 100m easy enough. My canine setup if I ever find the time to get out after them.

I am using it in my 204,22-250 and 375 h&h. Seems to give decent velocity and meters very well. I throw almost all my loads with my Redding measure and Cfe works great in it. Blc-2 meters very well too and like stated in the small cals it seems an extra grain of Cfe in most.

Might be hot.

Max loads from the Hodgdon website are 27.4 to 27.8 grains at about 54,000 psi. Why do you think 25 grains would be too hot?

Sounds like 25 grains would be a relatively mild load. The real question is whether it would shoot well in a particular gun. The only way to tell is to try it.

my plan is to start the ladder test at 25gr up to 27gr, its just for plinking so i'm not looking for anything other than decent accuracy & a charge that cycles without issue
