cfo for r(pal) number

I got my references done and approved for the licence about an hour ago as it says

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

How long should i wait before i can call the cfo to ask for the pal number? Id like to have it before it comes in the mail.
 
Hello

You can call the CFo and ask for your PAL now. That is what I did, and with my PAL# i went and ordered my first gun. by the time the PAL arrived at my house, it was only a couple of days later that the paper work was ready for the gun.

Now am i legally allowed to buy a firearm online with this number before the card physically gets here?
 
Yes, You may now go to any online store or your local gun shop, with that number and proper ID most guns shops will order the gun for you. thats what I did when I received my RPAL number over the phone. Once I had the number I called William arms gave them my pal number along with my credit card and he ordered the gun. When the transfer was done about 10 days, i received my PAL on the same day, so I quickly jumped in the car and went to Williams arms, thats when I showed in the actual PAL. By doing this I received my gun about 2 weeks faster
