Hello,

Some time ago I bought my first restricted, joined gun club and one of my cosingers for RPAL has been called by CFO office. That was normal process and after all paper work has been done I got my LTATT and gun by mail.

Two weeks ago I ordered another restricted from the same store. What was funny is that no one of my cosigners have been called at all by CFO, also I got my registration for new gun and Temporary ATT in 1 week. Another 2 days took my seller to ship me my gun. It is funny because I know that CFO has to call my cosigners for every restricted deal and also it should take at least 3 weeks to proceed my file.

Am I lucky ? Or something has been changed in Quebec's CFO rules ?

I'm in Ontario and I had my acquisition paperwork for my first restricted (it was also my first firearm at all) and a temporary ATT done the same day I bought it. Police Ordnance couldn't believe it.

Don't worry, I've been ####ed a few times by my CFO in the mean time.

I would bet that their policy of calling references creates a HUGE backlog of paperwork... so every once in a while they go ahead and push through a few transfers without doing the extra BS simply to help their backlog.... If I were running a terrible bureaucracy with these policies, that's what I would do ;)

So you got lucky this time, next time your transfer will probably end up in the "other" stack of papers.

You have GOT to be kidding?!?

I think vinzer got some bad info. I don't live in Quebec myself, but I do know a few Quebec gun-owners and I've never heard of references being called every time a restricted firearm is purchased.

That's just silly.

I didn't even get called when my buddy applied for a licence and put me down as a reference.

And why would the whole process need to be encumbered by calling your cosigners to ask if you should be allowed to have another gun?

You re not lucky , transfers for restricted firearms are usually fast and they dont always call ur cosigners . Transport permits usually take 2-3 weeks . But for restricted rifles that s a whole other story !!! I ve been waiting more then 3 months for my LMT transfer now !!!!

They do call your co-signers, When I acquired my AR-15 they call all of them...I know, cos one of these co is my ex-wife....Yeah! she still continue to be aware of my addict. At least, she dont stop me from acquiring. Even my co-workers ask me how my AR was shooting...even if I haven't told him.

KebeKisTan at is best

what kind of questions they ask your cosigners? cause this never happen to me yet, aleast i can give my cosigners a warning they going to call, next time im buying a restricted

Well, I know that in other provinces other than Quebec this is not a case (calling at least one of your consigners for every restricted transaction), but here in Quebec it is normal practice after Dawson's college shooting :( Basically in Quebec the new law has been accepted and this law called Bill 9 or Annastasia's low. This law is about all firemarms, their transportation and storage. And as far as I know there are many restrictions in Quebec comparing to the rest of free Canada.

When I did my first restricted transaction and one of my refernces has been called by CFO he has been asked about two three things: 1. Does he know me ? 2. Does he know that I am planing to buy a restricted (handgun)? 3. Does he have anything against this (means against my intention to buy restrictred)? Thats it thats all.

And these question are already too many?
Will they do it when you are going to buy a sport car ??
Will they do it when you are going to buy some booze??

These two mix kill more people then firearms in Canada and many other country.

Hé! It is easier to control a drunk society and more $$$ in the safe of the state!!
Kebekistan it is, and it will stay!

In Quebec I believe they only call when you buy an AR-15 wich are big evil black and fully automatic assault rifles in Quebec, pistols I don't see a reason for them to call, because a semi auto rifle is SOOOOOOO more likely to be used in a school shooting, a pistol just can't be hidden in your back, right?

I've never had anybody called by the CFO when I purchase a restricted. Is that a new policy or something?

This happens ONLY IN QUEBEC for their restricted transfers. lol, how many times and in how many different parts of this site will people have to read this in before they get it. :)
