CFO Surprise inspections.

If there ever is a ban, it is more probable that the government will "grandfather" those individuals already in legal possession of handguns. Just like the 12(x) classes. Its OK to take property from a handful of people without compensation, but to do it to hundreds of thousands of people.......its not a good idea, politically. As for the semi-automatics, the government would make concessions on that, banning those that resemble assault weapons - again, most likely grandfathered to existing legal owners. Thats why applicants come in record numbers when there is a talk about a ban.

That, my friends, is the worst case scenario, if gun-owners don't band together and fight this non-sense.

"...No warrant, in the nicest possible terms, pound salt...." Except that the FA allows for inspections. And you're required to assist. It's one of the many Charter of Rights violations in the FA. However, they must make an appointment with you.

What I should have said, is this would be in the case of someone showing up at my door asking for a peek. I do realize I'm obliged if they phone and make an appointment. I should have been more clear, but I was into the Wild Turkey last night ;)

So if I'm out of the country when they call, I can tell them that they have to wait till I return to Canada since my wife who does not have a PAL or RPAL doesn't have access to my firearms.

If you own firearms, your wife should have a PAL.

Going through the safe handling course is reason enough IMO, but having a licence....being legal to possess when you're not around, certainly has benefits.

Agreed but it ain't gonna happen.

So I have them locked in their cabinets and safe's in my gun room and she does not have access to them.

She does have access to my baseball bat, Paul Chen katana and our two faithful, stranger hating German Shepherds :) Zombies beware.
