Hey Troops the lower can't and won't be "all things to all people" the 1.8 version is a good compromise, I can take or leave the alive, dead or undead thats not a problem. I am however a HK junkie so the picogram is something that I would like to see. I like the "restricted to canadiangunnutz". Anyway its good see folks "stepping' up and trying to get this project to the "production" stage. Keep up the good work troops!

Lower project

Will this be a full lower? Stock and all?

Right now I think that the project should be for just the "stripped" lower, however I have suggested that if some "dealers" want to add on extras for individuals thats not a problem.

I think it should be a stripped lower and we can build them up as we please....

I can build up a lower in 30-60 minutes.. there isn't a lot too it once you figure out what springs are which and have a few special tools ( detent tool is worth the 4 bucks and a long allen key for the grip another 4 bucks well spent) a stock wrench is useful but there are other ways. You need a couple pin starters and pin punches some duct tape is nice to have and a small hammer and life is good....

AR15. com has a great tutorial...

Just don't mess up your springs and watch what you are doing and it's really not that difficult....

Exactly... as of 2008-01-12 @ 11:36 eastern time, 36 people for 1.7(1.8), 10 people for 1.6 and 4 people who are flexible and other. So if we combine 1.6 + 1.7 + 1.8 we have 50 people . It already adds up to 40% of all who want a CGN lower.

We should think of version 1.9 as an hybrid to please most people.

Looks good. I would do one change.....not so much CGN stuff. Don't get me wrong, but having a CGN serial, AND the CGN logo, AND "resticted to CGN's" is a little over the top IMO.

I like the serial, the log? Good either way....but the "restricted to" portion should say something else...Like "Restricted to Law Abiding Canadians Only" or something along that vein...

Hey! How bout "Restricted; Opponents of Canadian Gun Control Only"

Just thinkin' out loud :)

I'm in for a version 1.8

I'd take # 019 if available.

My personal preference would be for enlarging the text and maple leaf slightly, perhaps by 20%? There looks to be a lot of unused space.

Ive got some basic tools like a Stock wrench and roll pin punch sets, even have extra stocks and parts...but would like to purchase a ready to go lower..if available..:D

So, following GT's guide lines and the design most CGNers seem to like, I think version 2.0 is the winner.

In order to keep things moving I would open a last poll. As mentioned the left side of the signature lower is done with, the right side is the last piece of the design's puzzle. Again to narrow things down and keep GT happy I would suggest only the 2 following choices for the last poll :

#1 : version 2.0 with nothing on the right side
#2 : version 2.0 with "RESTRICTED TO CANADIANGUNNUTZ" on the right side

Let's se how it goes...

Zykopat,

thanks for the hard work... But since there's no CGN logo, I'm jumping off the bandwagon...

No problem!

I'm sorry to hear that... version 2.0 was not my favorite either, but it seems like the crowd pleasure. There has to be lots of compromises to please the majority and to fit into the restrictions we have from CGN.

I'm not a designer and I wasn't assigned to this project... I just wanted to do my share to help a a little. If someone's has better designs that would suit more CGNers and that would fit into GT's guide lines, don't be shy.

I just hope this project has a happy ending.

zykopat I think you do a good job displaying the designs here. you 2.0 model is way of bass from the very first run of the CGN ar lower. I would like to see a larger logo of the first run but updated a bit to make it different. without the HK crap. I do like the use of the 3 selector area even if it can't be used.

Look at the old frame & make it better.. Hope GT can see his way in doing it updated old school that's what we are all about CGN members.....

This was my old one before I made the mistake of selling it.

Maybe increase size of logo by 15-20% get rid of borders around beaver. clear logo up so it's not so blurry.. And on right side "restricted to CGN members" serial number can have 2008CGN001 and so on. if we did this as a new lower I could live with the HK look for the selector area.

I saw this one on another site - I really like the jolly rodger/leaf
I would fill in the Boxes in with red and white for the skull/leaf
