CGN LR/PR mentorship program

Hey all. Been out of the shooting game for a number of years dealing with cancer. I dropped out of the LMD shooting scene. Would like to get I touch with someone who can mentor me in the long range game. I’d like to start from an absolute beginner point. Don’t need long range as I’d like to learn the gun setup, range doping and positional shooting first. I have an entry level Tikka CTR in 223 and a Savage in 22lr. If anyone out there is running classes that I can pay tuition and get learned from please dm me.

Posting this more for feedback than anything. This thread doesn't seem to attract much attention based on the posting dates and those that do post don't get a response. I have been researching extensively into new shooter education and Precision Rifle Series training and there really isn't any options available except for YouTube videos and some poor online courses. Yes CGN and other forums will help those who ask questions but everything is fragmented with no real structured training that would advance the PRS sport and industry as a whole. There are some great long range shooting schools like RFMA but Rob's training prone and bench shooting not PRS comps and is quite costly. I know this is a rich persons sport but I believe there is a missing piece to the puzzle. Now I have gotten feedback from some shooting clubs, ranges and suppliers already but want further input from the members of this forum.

Are there any actual schools with courses that you can attend and learn everything about shooting in general and training for competitive shooting? Is this a real need in the industry or is there just not enough demand in Canada?

Thx in advance

likely not enough demand in canada due to multiple things like our gov, public perception etc. If there was a school I would take a couple of courses. problem is that in ontario there is not a lot of space to reach out to farther distances.

Definitely a small market with different perceptions but surprisingly its 2nd to the US in gun ownership at approx 30 guns/100 people.

I am a bit surprised that such a large province per area and population has minimal long distance ranges. What are the longest ranges in the province?

From a training course perspective what areas would you have interest in?

positional and scenario shooting for myself. long range, midrange, pistol. The longest ones are milcun, CFB borden but they only allow .308 or 6.5, and then i think eagle lake has 800m

Being mentored by a knowledgeable sufficiently good personable shooter is a more enjoyable day than being mentored by a shooter that has immense knowledge and practical skill but is a total dickhead.

Be careful who you choose to get help from.
