Ok, just a couple of quick questions...

1) How far can we stretch it out for distance? There are 3 of us that like to play at 300 m +. The furthest we have made contact is 750+-.

2) I read that centre-fire is OK, but I just hope that there will be no surprises when I open up with my 300WSM & brake that is pushing a 125gr Nosler @ 3750 (very loud).

If this is OK I will start campaigning with the group to make this trip just to see some new country and meet some like minded people.

Anxiously awating spring and gophers..

The nearest hotels will probably be in Tompkins. We're only about 20 minutes from there. Again as for the .300 WSM, I will leave that up to C2K and the landowners. I don't see a problem, my only request is you shoot away from the rest of the group. A braked .300 would be too loud to shoot in the midst of everyone else and if there are any children around I don't want to hear them cry. It would also depend on how comfortable everyone else is with it. There's plenty of land and I don't think you could see far enough to make a hit out there. We may have to send people in opposite directions if there's too many shooters.

I am starting a new job in march so I not sure of how the weekend will work with the new schedule. As soon as I know I will book the time off. My brother is asking for that weekend off too.:)

300 should be ok...as long as the group you are with are ok with it!!!

Accomodations in Tompkins arent very good...there is also Gull Lake. Best accomodations would be in Swift Current. About a 45 minute drive ;)

There are also probably a few areas you might get ranges out to 1000 yards.

we had lots of 300 yard shots last year...

on the topic of potluck i was thinking the otherday that i have a large turkey fryer, we could maybe do a fish fry one night? i 'll check, i might be able to get a real good price on walleye fillets...

My friend and I are interested in coming out on a summer road trip, but we live in ontario. it is my understanding that there are people are coming from other provinces but i am wondering about regulations for us to come and shoot. do hunting rules apply and stuff like that, pardon my ignorance we are both new to the sport.

I've got a small portable stainless steel propane bar b q (grill size 10X14) that I will be bringing and last year I heard a few people mention they liked hot wings so that will be part of my contribution.

Provided we're not seeding or spraying or something a couple of us will cruise down for one day for sure. Would it be worth bringing the Rhino down, or will trucks be good to move around with?

Looking forward to it! :)

So it looks like my route is settled
I will be in Merritt on the morning of the 4th and heading back up to Kamloops and then east
anyone wanting to ride let me know i have room for one possibly two people and their gear

It looks like I will actually be able to make it this year... will probably spend a day shooting, and hual the boat down with me and take the wife fishing for a day (dad too)

I will be staying with my parents 20 miles away with the wife and our baby...

I know this land, and it can be a blast shooting there all day.

I guess I will have to find some time to load up some rounds for the 6mm.. or get myself a .223 (or similar)
