CGN Snowgoose Extravaganza 2017

Mother Nature battled us hard all weekend, but we had a great group of guys and fought through it. Thanks to the boys in the group. A fantastic host, new friendships, great memories, great food, great camaraderie, a LOT of laughter and some hunting thrown in for good measure.

A couple pictures of what we woke up to on Saturday morning. Fog, snow, more snow and a LOT of decoys that needed to be cleaned off. If you have thought about doing a snow goose hunt, do it. It is definitely worth it.

Man, it was rough going back to work today with my "mind in the blind"...... thinking back to all of the great times.....

One of my moments that stood out on day 2....

We all kind of felt the guides were taking too long to call the shots.... waiting for everything to be "perfect" on a bad day where they were slow to commit.....

I am pretty sure he got wind of us chirping a bit, so as we had a small flock of five coming in for a third pass he started to say "if you guys feel comforta", and was promptly interrupted by the entire blind promptly standing up and dropping three geese....

Good times...

That had to be the funniest moment of the whole trip! Im still laughing about it

A couple of classic "lines from the blinds"

"I never thought I'd say this but".... (followed by complete silence)

"I wouldn't mind trying some of those three and a half inches you have over there"

Lol that's awesome :). Nothing better than a good group in the blind.

I only wish we would all share this attitude.... be prepared to take ourselves less than seriously and be more open to fun and new friends and less driven towards "online supremacy" ....

There are some great guys right here on CGN, and I am privileged to call many of them my friend....

Yeah, not the first time I bumbled a story that weekend. :/

It was much appreciated...... "it takes all kind to fill the blinds"..... we laughed, and more importantly, you laughed.....

Hell go ahead and tell the story of me going "call of duty" on those two birds... it's comletely laughable...

We certainly all had our moments!

Well I did my best to ensure that the blind was a positive space by being a positive space champion.

All I can say is when snows won't get up out of the decoys, sometimes you end up on a spot and stalk goose hunt...

Dusting off them decoys, wouldn't a leaf blower help things along a wee bit qwicker?

That wouldn't have worked at all... under three inches of snow was an inch of ice... we had to pound the dekes to break it loose... with close to a thousand dekes, seven guys had to hustle to get it done.

One of the most valuable lessons I've learned in life is being able to laugh at myself, and with others. As well as the gift of meeting new people, life is much better shared laughing with others than competing against them.
