Challenger shot shells opinions please.

I've tried their target load and 00 buckshot in both my hatsan semi and 870 with zero issues. The target loads seem like much better quality than similarly priced winchester equivalent.

The Canadian national trap team coach uses them. 'Nuff said.

The company that produces them (SEC Libec Inc.) in Ste.Justine-de-Newton, 60km West of Montreal, is owned and operated by Elie Zarife, who has won many skeet championships. He is also a hunter and is still involved with the Montreal Skeet Club and Ducks Unlimited. Here is the guy:

Several dozen flats of #8 target loads in Sporting Clays, skeet and trap. Had the occasional bad primer per flat of shells last year with the target loads. Other than that ran 100% in my semis and O/U's

Have moved to the handicap #7.5 and #8 and find them to be a great shell for all my Sporting needs.

Best price around from a local dealer at $75.00 taxes in per flat while the local CT wants $100.00 taxes in for the same flat of shells.

Prefer the Challengers to the comparable promo loads from Winchester, Federal and Remington.

Challenger ammo is what I shoot most often. It's good except that sometimes in cold conditions (e.g. -15 and below) I will get the occasional hollow sounding shot. I'm assuming this is a problem with their wads not properly sealing in cold weather because it happens more often with my overbore target guns.

I shoot Score. They are very good and made in a small town in Manitoba. Challengers are made in Quebec. I send enough of my tax money there so I do not need to send my ammo money there.

There are many reasons to choose one ammo over another. Small-minded bigotry toward Quebec isn't one of them.

If Score sold for the same price, I would try Score, but as long as Challenger can be purchased for considerably less cost, I will continue to use them when I purchase factory target loads.

Have seen a few FTF and FTE over the past few years....when compared to the amount of Challenger loads I see at the range, this is a very small number.
But at the end of the day, they tend to be cheaper than other loads, so six of one, half dozen of the other.
I have shot many Challenger target loads, Clever, Winchester and Federal. The only FTF I have ever had over thousands of rounds was from a Challenger load.

Shoot enough shells of any type you'll have the occasional dead primer or other problem. You will get a bad run sometimes no matter whose name is on the box. My worst experience oddly enough was with Winchester AA.

In my parts Challenger is selling for the same price as Winchester Super Target. That's a no brainer because Winchester ST is crap.

And now that I am loading my 28 gauge target loads, I find that the Challenger hulls load very nicely, to where they could pass for factory loads. It remains to be seen though, as to how many loads I can get out of a hull.

I like Score as well. Actually I havent found any brand that I can't get to pattern. No need to spend a ton of money on shells.

Never had any issues with them and I've shot several flats of each type of target shells in 12g. The Extra Light don't cycle semi-autos well but that's to be expected. My guns LOVE the handicap #8 shot.

For pricing, you didn't say what sort of deal but I regularly pick them up on sale for about $60 a flat plus tax. Gotta love the price on them!
