Anyone here tried the Challenger shotshells?

Are they any good on waterfowl?

No, dont use them. They are for skeet/sporting clays/trap. Go out and get some beter shells for waterfowl.

I tried using them on grouse, and didnt get good results.

Challenger shotshells are OK... but you can get better lead shot for the same money.
I have found the Challenger Steel Shot to be pretty crappy... soft wads, poor patterns and exaggerated velocity claims. I have patterned a lot of it and the final straw was when I was finding Wads with seven or eight steel BBB shot pellets still stuck in the bottom of the wad cup... Talk about holes in your patterns.
I like Kent Steel Shotshells for waterfowl... it is the best buy for the money.

I use the 2 3/4" shells (7 1/2 shot size) for upland game (early pheasant, partridge, etc) and I am quite satisfied with them.

I havn't tried Challenger shotshells for waterfowl.

I had a very bad experience with Challenger slugs and will NEVER use them again.

But I bought a case of their steel "high speed" BBB shot for geese and have been happy with it. In my 11-87 it does better than Federal and Winchester. I have not tried the Kent Fasteel, but as BIGREDD notes, it is very popular. Last year on this forum, the consensus amongst the folks who shoot a lot of steel shot was that Kent was the best for the money.

I've shot a lot of their target loads, some of their lead hunting loads but none of their non-tox preferring Kent Tungsten Matrix for geese and ducks.

I've been very happy with the performance of their target loads which I consider on par with Kent.

I know a lot of target shooters use Challenger, I think it's pretty good stuff. Very clean, never a problem firing.

I also use their steel loads, and have been happy with their performance on ducks and geese over decoys. I can't comment accurately on their effectiveness on high-flying geese, however.

I have shot alot of the 1 1/4 oz, 3", 2's on ducks and geese and have been very happy with them.

Each gun may shoot them a little different.
