Chamber checker

I am new to reloading and someone I shoot with that has been reloading for a long time recommend that I get a chamber checker, EGW makes a 4 caliber one. I can only find one place in Canada that carries it and it's a little expensive between mark up, shipping, and tax it ends up being close to 3 times more then they sell for in the US.

Does anyone know of an alternative brand or supplier in Canada? I will be reloading 9mm, 40 and 45 acp.

case gauge? There's plenty made by Lyman and Wilson and various other companies. Not much more than 30$.

As stated above you can always do the plunk test. For free, remove barrel, hold chamber up and drop round. It should make a plunk as it seats in chamber.

I was told this as well by my the person that recommended the chamber checker. That said I'd have to have my pistol stripped in order to check it, I'd prefer to leave it together.
 
I have a .223 and a .308 case gauge that I use only when setting up my Dillon with the power trimmer... For pistol I make a few dummy rounds and cycle it thru the mag and chamber... A chamber gauge won't tell you if a round is going to feed.

If you're doing a few reloads, you can use your barrel.

If you're doing hundreds of rounds, get a chamber checker, EGW 7 hole or equivalent.

If you're doing thousands of reloads, invest in a shockbottle 100 round ammo gauge. It costs about $200 all in.

Murray Gardner carries the shockbottle in Canada, I don't know of any other retailer that does. To order it from the states direct would cost more right now.
The shockbottle is awesome, it allows you to check 100 rounds at a time, then flip it into a plastic carrier directly.
