Chamber cleaning

I clean my mosin's chamber with 20g brush and drill.

I figure if the gun killed a few Germans it should tango down a doe with ease. Last year i splattered a deer's head across a tree, so I'm content with the thing so far.

oh, yes- a dirty chamber is just as big a sin as a dirty barrel- you can get special chamber cleaning brushes( even remington has a special "z" brush for cleaning the chambers) and you folks that just PURCHASED A M305, PAY ATTENTION- you can use a 45 cal RIFLE brush with a 90 degree fitting to clean your chambers- if you can't get the special ratchet brush- ar15 also has it's own DUAL diameter chamber brush, etc- i make mine out of a piece of round aluminum with a 8/32 tapped into the end and the side drilled for the other- the only thing it doesn't fit are the REALLY FAT magnums

Just be sure to swab out all left over cleaners or oil.A round fired in an oily chamber will produce bolt thrust and pressure! Mur

I always brush clean and wipe the chamber. Then apply a very light coat of fine gun oil to the chamber walls using a clean patch (which I wipe out before shooting next time). It's more important to do this to some guns than others. Semi-autos for example.
