Hey , have been doing alot of reading on different loads to try out in my rifle now that i reload and one that has caught my eye is the M118LR .

However i have been reading that rifles that fire this cartridge have to be reamed out more than a standard 7.62x51 chamber as the cartridge is too long .

I did some m852 Match duplicates and they chambered and fired great but im worried the same dimensions with a slightly longer bullet (168gr vs 173-175 gr) might be in danger of actually sitting on the lands before firing. some say this is detrimental to accuracy others are saying its ok ..

so which is it ?

Has anyone here tried the SMK BTHP for hunting? I'm just curious if it does what hollow points are supposed to do (make a gaping death hole).
