I'm in the market for my first shotgun and as such want to purchase something that will get me by for the next couple years on my very restrictive budget

I've been looking really hard at a mossberg 535 deer combo. Mossberg says that you can fire 2 3/4", 3" and 3 1/2" shells through it. Does this also apply to slugs as well? For example can I fire a 2 3/4" slug from a 3 1/2" chamber accurately and safely? Some searches on the net have not really turned up a answer.

regards,

Yes, both 2-3/4" & 3" slugs... both accurately & safely.

To date, I don't believe any of the majors have marketed a 3-1/2" slug.

Sabot-type slugs are designed for use in rifled barrels, Foster-type slugs in smoothbore barrels.
