Have a barrel blank and Rem 700 action. Now looking for a master gunsmith to chamber for the 358 Winchester. I have blank loaded shells using Sierra 225gr and would like the barrel chambered to the round. Will I have to have a special reamer made to the loaded shell? Will a gunsmith be able to make the reamer? Or can a gunsmith use a match 308 reamer and machine the neck to the proper dimensions? Any suggestions on who would be qualified at this type of work. I want it as close to match as possible.

Your smithy will need a chamber reamer. If the smithy doesn't have the reamers he can get 'em(rented from the U.S.), but you'll be paying for it. 4 D Products in Wyoming rents reamers and headspace guages. The .358 Win reamer runs $28US with a $100US deposit for 5 days. $8US with a $50US deposit for the set of guages.
He won't likely make one though. That's good for you. Too expensive in time and money. Not all smithy's have the machines to do it either.
I wouldn't worry too much about 'match' anything. There are no match grade .35 calibre bullets.

I am not a "master" gunsmith but I have chambered a few .358 Winchesters on 700 actions that shot quite well. I think I could do yours... PM or email me... Dennis
