Is is possible to re chamber a existing chamber, so going from a 6.5 creedmoor to a 6.5x08 ai or a 260 rem ai with out setting the barrel back lots??

Is it worth the extra 100 to 150fps in a 22 inch barrel?

Thanks Dean

If reaming the new chamber removes all traces of the old one, then it should be do-able.
Whether or not the increase in velocity is worth the cost - probably $200 or so - you'd have to decide.

Are you sure you will really gain that much? The 6.5 CM has a case capacity of about 54 grains. The 08 is going to be around 55, and the 260 sits at 53 grains. AI typically only adds a couple of grains.

I would suggest that if you want a significant step up from the 6.5 CM you consider rechambering to a 6.5x284 which will give you about 66 grain capacity. That will give you a significant velocity increase, and you can get Lapua brass in 6.5x284. As long as your action is long enough, it should only be a matter running the 6.5x284 reamer in your existing barrel.

That said, the 6.5 CM is a pretty good cartridge and gives good barrel life.
