Today at the range I tried one of those champion self healing spinning praire dogs. It worked pretty good stood up to about 150 rounds. I think one should be good for several range trips. It might not be the thing for a serious target shooter but I would recommend one for a fun target.

I've got one that i shoot mostly 9mm and 45lc at. The 45lc leaves a little dimple in the back and you can see an outline of the bullet in front but it heals up pretty well. the 9mm looked like somone stuck a needle in it. It's held up to quite a few rounds already and still going strong. They say not to use hollow point ammo with them though...and try not to hit the section that wraps around the metal stand.
