I was thinking of picking up a M7 remington in 260 and rechambering it to 6.5x55 what do you gun nutz think of this little project. Is there any worth while gain in bulistics
The conversion can not be done unless you want to buy a new barrel. The good part is the 260 is so close to the 6.5X55 balists wise, there's really no reason to change.

Yep, just Ackley the the .260. That's what I do if you want more juice. Easy to do on factory barrels, but you still need a smith to do it right for headspace. Increase velocity, accuracy remains the same.
Case capacity is the same as the 6.5 x55, when I use Winchester 308 cases. With 140 grian match bulelts and 30" barrels i get 2950 fps. About the same as a 6.5-284.
