change forend Maverick 88

Hi,

just bought the ATI Talon set for my Maverick 88. Change of the stock was easy, great stock by the way.
Unfortunately I read in the instructions that you can not change the forend of a Maverick 88.......

Checking into this, turns out the action slide and the forend of the Maverick 88 are one piece (molded). Youtube told me that it is possible to buy just an action slide for the Maverick/Mossberg 500, attach the ATI-forend and install the whole thing.

Is this right?
Where can I buy an action slide?
Can I do this with "basic" knowledge, I am not a gunsmith.

Just want some answers before I post that forend on EE.

I beleve the 88 has only one action bar, and the mossy 500 has two. You may run into some issues there, I'm not sure if its prosible to just cut one off as the ends may be different.

The 88 has 2 bars, but I just saw on YouTube that the 500 action slide might fit, but sometimes does not fit. Not sure if it's worth the risk - better stay with the old forend.

The old 88s had a single action bar but they switched to double bars a long time ago. Just buy a Mossberg 500 slide tube, same shotgun.

500 action bar fits the 88. It did on mine anyway.
