Change is coming, what will you do about it?

.
The one BIG THING that all of us has to realize is that ALL OF US have to make our voices heard.

When the original firearms laws were being proposed, there was apathy from people whose interests did not coincide with other shooters. In order to change these Laws, we have to have people from across the whole spectrum of the recreational fireams community letting their Members of Parliament know their feelings and wishes.

I had many arguments with some of the people who stated things like "I only have shotguns and shoot ducks. They will not regulate them. Why do people need pistols, assault rifles, military rifles anyways?" And you can guess who was screaming and wailing the loudest when they DID regulate his firearms.

What I am saying here is that we have to join together, ALL OF US, regardless of our individual interests. We are all interested in the Hobby of Firearms, and just because someone wants to shoot or collect a different type of firearm than we do, it is in the interest of all of us to band together. The Liberals used the "divide and conquer" technique the last time to ram this crap down are throats. We now have to say "NOT AGAIN."\.

For as long as the RCMP continues to administer the CFC, and are therefore very much in the drivers seat of our Ant. community legal reality bus, I feel strongly that we must very carefully consider what/how many changes we ask for.
Lest we lose favourable liberties we already have in hand, to yet more of that boss mountie style of 'dodge and weave' political trickery.
We all know full well, that they would gleefully arrange to cancel out the "use" provisions in law we currently enjoy, at their first possible opportunity to do so. That is a given.
If we do choose to open this pandora's box. Unlikely to emerge with a net gain IMO.

My letters, demand to rescind this recent SAA reclass .. achieved on the QT by down and dirty d!cking about with "re-interpretation of statutes" and quiet FRT tweaks, with rcmp enforced politically charged "policies" now overriding our standing laws .... This reclass Must be Rescinded.
The FRT tables, they Must be revised to remove those numerous, and so dangerous to us, Restr. and prohib. mistakes.

Repeal and redraft the FA. (hopefully, this rewrite won't scuttle the best parts of our Ant. provisions)
Reverse the Swiss Arms & 858 prohibs.
Remove the rcmp (with their so obvious conflict of interest) from administration of the FA.

I see alignment with US Ant. laws as a logical and proper move, however, anything to do with our guns and the USA will fire up the opposition politico's/MSM into a CPC vote devouring feeding frenzy. (think "NRA at the gates") . Not a good angle to persue, IMO, and the Con's won't be going there anyways.

For me, much of the attraction for mag fed Ant. rifles waned with the death of the LGR. It would be some good tho, to get mag fed Ant's into the safe before a change in the Gov't. Sigh.

Letter time.

A few thoughts, in line with what some others have already stated:
1. We ALL need to be talking and writing to our MP's. Don't everyone assume that everyone else is writing and talking, just because you know a few who are)
2. I like the word 'STANDARDIZE' (i.e., To avoid the RCMP wasting taxpayers' money focusing on how they can re-interpret the term 'antique', Canada ought to to standardize what qualifies as antique to match the USA's). This should be fairly non-controversial as far as politics and the media are concerned.
3. Someone, or a small committee, from the antique firearms community needs to work closely with the appropriate persons in the Harper government to absolutely ensure we do nothing but gain in this endeavour. (I would nominate Dingus as one of those consultants).
4. We need this to move quickly so there is time for everything to be completed and approved by the Senate before the next election.
