I heard today that Canada will no longer be letting Standard shooters do the Box test without mags inserted. I know the rest of the world currently must have their guns fit in the box with an empty mag inserted. Anyone know if this is true? :runaway::runaway::runaway:

What other changes have been made, or where can I go to find out these changes?

That's good news. I really like the bases I added to my mags that make them easier to insert. I don't want to have to remove them. Don't worry,.... they still measure under 140mm. :dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

I think that it is a matter of our exemptions expiring.

Sean will be applying for new ones that should be passed.
Yep, like Storm says - our exemptions are tied to the current rule book and since the current rulebook is being replaced, I have to reapply on IPSC Canada's behalf. Don't assume that they will be rubber stamped, but we'll try to keep them. As I've explained in another thread, our previous reasoning was proximity to another exemption holder; the USA. Now the USA does things differently so we have less leverage. The decision will come down late January from the IPSC Executive.

Nothing has changed in Canada yet.

'Sorry for the hijack, but...

Here in Canada we all are required have a "black badge" to shoot ipsc ...
I understand there is no such thing as a "black badge" in the USA.

What provisions are there for US shooters who come to Canada to shoot ipsc events...?

Don't ask don't tell...? Are they just given a pass...?

No. Like any other country, they must first show proof of IPSC membership in the US and references are required. In most cases, like when Madness and Mobile-1 bring thier friends up, they are of a level that it's easy to see (class/results) they have been doing it successfully and safely for a while.

The responsibility is on the MD to feel that he will have safe competitors. If there's an accident, he's the one that's going to eat it so naturally, he has final say.

The USPSA has introduced training programs throughout the US. While not as rigorous as the Canadian course, it's better than what they had.
