The proposed changes were approved last week and the start dates for the southern Ontario moose season have been changed for the 2017 season.

A decision was made on March 30, 2016 to proceed with the regulatory amendments as described below. The changes will take effect for the fall 2017 moose hunting season.

So much for traveling on the weekend to get up to the camp for a monday hunt.. now hunters need to take days off in the week before the hunt as well.

Now some years the moose hunt will end on the Saturday and deer season will open on the Monday. Don't think that's the case this year, but it will be soon. Like it better with a week between to let the woods settle and deer funnel back in from all the moose hunters moving them around.

exactly..

look at 2020 and you will see the moose going from 24th - 30th, then deer from the 2nd onward.. not much time between the 2.. shoot a moose 30th, then have to take it to the deer camp to hang long enough.. MNR shows up, and guess what.. suspicion of poaching the moose from the week before..
