ok has any one changed a 12-6 revovler into a retricted revolver if so how and what did you have to do other then changing the barrel. Can i just have the 12-6 barrel removed and then have the frame re-reg as a restriced firearm with out putting on the new longer barrel ?

I have only had pistols converted from 12(6) to restricted but if the revolver is prohibited only due to barrel length you shouldn't have any problem. I don't believe you can have it re-registered without the barrel though. If it is prohib also by calibre then there is another problem and the cylinder will also need to be changed or converted.

What are you wanting to have converted?

I've heard that the old(short) barrel needs to be turned in for a receipt, possibly prior to re-registering, the person I talked to at the CFC was a tad bit confused, so take it with a grain of salt.

I would like to just have the frame re-reg as restricted then when i make up my mind as to what size or make of barrel i want . The gunsmith can just do it

I just received a revolver that had a new, restricted-legal barrel installed, and was re-registered. The work was done by Barry Jensen at Bits of Pieces (and very nicely). I did not get the original, shorter barrel back. If you write Barry, I'm sure he'd explain in detail what happens.
