Changing caliber on a savage 110?

Sounds good! What do you mean by north american brass?

European 6.5 Swede brass has a slightly different base diameter than north American made brass, which has the same base diameter as the 308/270/30-06 etc. The differences are small, but stacked tolerances can and will bite you in the ass. With the 270 bolt head, stick with NA brass and you should be fine. In regards to recoil, I found my win 70 270 recoiled a lot more than any 6.5 Swede I ever owned. But that was stock design. Change the stock so the comb was lower and the problem went away. 270 still recoils more than the 6.5 Swede, but not by a huge amount. - dan

Adding that you don't have the barrel vise, or wrench or gauges... It probably would be cheaper to find something already chambered in 6.5

For example there is a LH Tikka T3 in 6.5x55 on GP, for 1000$.

Looking at guys that make barrels for the 110, looks like the closest would be 260 or 25-06, hows the recoil on the 260?

Recoil of the .260 is virtually identical to the 6.5x55, depending on rifle of course. I have both my daughters (age 10 and 12) hunting with .260’s as well as my wife with a bad shoulder, if that tells you anything.

A sponsor here Mystic Precision can get you a McGowen barrel in 6.5x55 as well. Have a chat with jerry.
