I'm looking at changing from a 3 port brake/comp on my AR to a linear comp. I don't mind the blast, but my son is not a fan. As he is my shooting buddy, his opinion matters!

What say ye? What is the best option?

I don't care about flash or recoil reduction, but if the gear reduces them too, so be it.

I have an inexpensive J&P on a plinker that works fine and is used when in a crowd. I also use a removable shroud on one of my .30's muzzle device.

Hera linear comp is good. Have one on my 10.5 and it turned it from a concussion grenade to a flame thrower. Much more friendly.

I'm sorry but I don't understand why you guys all put brakes on the AR? there isn't any recoil to speak of already, and they are so hard on the ears

Take a look out our linear comps.
They are very cost effective at $55 cdn or less.
We have sold 1000,s of them in the last 5yrs
We also make a mini comp what we call ou r NLC nano linear comp
Most of our dealers sell them.

I have a Noveske KX3 on one of my ARs and a PWS FSC 556 Compensator on my other AR. I find there is slightly less recoil with the KX3 but its louder than the FSC. Neither of them have larger flashes compared to some I have seen.

I've had good luck with S&J and also Allen Gunworks linear comps.
They all do the same thing and I'm not willing to spend $200+ for a linear comp just to have one that looks cooler.
If you start into flash hiders and brakes then there is a difference in performance but all a linear does is direct the blast downrange. Some may feel less recoil with a KX3 or the HERA Arms linear but that is mostly a result of adding a huge weight to the end of your barrel.

The KX3 is louder than the FSC556? I thought the whole idea behind the KX3/KX5 is that the sound and concussive force is directed forward?
