changing front sight on Beretta 92

it is a dovetailed sight. in an attampt to put a lower sight I kept banging on it with a brass punch and it did not move at all.
I had better luck with the rear sight.

what am I missing?

Beretta front sights are staked in. You would probably need an MGW sight pusher tool to move it. Filing down the existing and using some cold blue is probably the quickest, if not the neatest solution.
 
what model of the 92 do you have? fs, elite1A. elite 2, sd?

the regular fs is staked sight the rest are dovetail.....
 
which way are you driving it? left to right or right to left. Right to left is the proper way. A sight tool is a better choice though, the front sights are a #####.
