Changing grip panels

I am in the process of trying to swap out the stock Norinco Commander rubber grips for some Hogue wood grips. 3 of the retaining screws from the old grips came off no problem, but one seems loctited together with the holding post. The holding post has now come off separate from the frame. I cannot get a grip on the holding post with pliers as it is threaded (so it can screw into the frame and hold the other retaining screw).

Any suggestions on how to loosen a screw in this position?

Re-install the "holding screw" with a generous amount of red loctite 262. Let it sit for 24 hrs to dry, then try removing the grip screw again.

The "holding screw" is a grip screw bushing, by the way. This is a common fault in 1911 type guns. As mentioned, red loctite works, from the factory (Colt, I have no idea about Norinco) they are staked into place, but they still come loose over time. - dan

Thanks guys, the grip screw bushing is setting in red loctite now, will advise if this works out.

buy yourself 4 stainless steel grip screw bushings. Original bushings break easily. Stainless is bulletproof almost.

The Norinco stock bushing thread is different. You might get replacement bushings from Marstar. http://www.marstar.ca/index.shtm
