I am going to order parts today to change my V1 USP to a V3 USP. the V# 3has a different Detent plate and Different Control Lever.
WHY, I use it in IPSC production (so DA first shot). So I never use the safety, and only use the lever to Decock it from SA to DA after I have loaded and made ready. The other weekend I thought maybe I had broke something, but failed to notice that during a stage, I had hit the safety up and engaged it. I did this on two stages and it cost me a lot of time on one stage (because I didn't clue in that it was on safety, and racked it a few times, and almost took my mag out) . I noticed it is much easier to engage the safety than before, possibly getting worked in, as the control lever is used to decock (push down), and safety (push Up).
IMHO, unless you are carrying cocked and locked, there is almost no need to have the external safety for this particular pistol.
Also, you may accidentily push the safety on.
