A while ago I picked up a .410 SxS on the EE. The right barrel had met with some misfortune and had a double bulge near the far end of the barrel. It looked as if it had been addressed to some degree by a gunsmith, but I took it to a local smith for another opinion. Verdict was that it looked ugly, but wasn't a safety issue. But how did it pattern? I tried it out and the right barrel patterned fine. The left barrel also patterned nicely... about 8 inches too far to the right! I wonder if the expanded right barrel somehow affected the alignment of the left one? Is there any way to correct or adjust it? Other than pointing it 8 inches to the left. ;)

The gun may have been manufactured that way, unless it was made by a higher end manufacturer and some of them had pretty wide tolerances. They can be corrected by bending the barrel. Which can be difficult, costly and time consuming. You can also have choke tubes installed by a competent company like Briley Manufacturing. They will make eccentric tubes which can overcome this type of problem ... again, costly. Depends on the gun and what it is worth to you.
