Changing powder to Unique for .45 ACP LRN

Unique works well at both low and high pressure. It has a much broader range of velocites than most powders. Start load and work up in .3 gr increments, and find what works best. I have found my 45s shoot much better with a specific load, but each is different.

Unique is a flake powder than does not meter well in some throwers. OK in my Dillon and Lyman 55, but NG in a Uniflow and Redding BR3.

A powder similar to Unique in speed and flexibilty that meters much better is IMR7625.

Just to update, I spent all morning shooting the new loads with Unique at the range. Loads were made according to the specs I gave in my OP, except for the powder amount which was being thrown in the range of 4.7 to 4.9 grains with most falling in the middle. This was using the Lee Auto-Disk .66 hole which is advertised to throw 6.0 grains of Unique. 1.2 grains off!

The loads were perfect for the gun, no cycling problems what-so-ever. They're a bit lighter than my W231 loads, but the wife enjoys it so much she shot my 1911 more than her Ruger MKIII! They seem accurate enough, but I'd prefer to work up the load to at least the next hole (.71 on the next disk) but wifie says she likes the loads where they are. So I'll leave the load where it is.

I need another 1911. Badly.
