Charge for 45 colt using Hodgdon H110

Hello all, I was wondering what kind of charge I should use of Hodgdon H110 with Hornady 255 GR FP Cowboy bullets?

H-110 is meant for heavy loads in revolver ctgs., such as loads used in Rugers, Tc,and Freedom Arms....not meant for CAS loads.

X2 ben, powder designed for heavy magnum loads with jacketed bullets. Lead bullet may stop in barrel.

If you had a really hard cast bullet, and were loading it on the heavy side, you'd probably be able to find something that would work. For a cowboy bullet, which is likely a fair bit softer, which you're going to want to run something lighter, you'd be best finding a different powder. Unique, makes a very good choice, in almost all light loads, as does Bullseye. Basically any reasonably fast powder, would work well for what you want.

+1, a wonderful powder for 45 colt, impossible to double charge.

X2 I personally had a pretty crappy experience downloading H110... Go big or go home with that stuff

Quite true, I am pressuming squibs or hangfires....

Clumping of the powder and more than one occasion of a bullet being stuck in the barrel... Oh well, live and learn

The absence of a crimp groove also makes the Hornady bullets unsuitable for heavy loads, besides the fact that they're very soft swaged lead.
