Hi everyone,

I just purchased a Charles Daly 20g O/U to get back into trap shooting. The last time I was shooting trap I was using a 12g. I've never owned a 20g before and am curious if it was a good decision to buy it.

I do understand it is a budget gun, and that they apparently have a bad name, but I'm willing to put it to the test, hopefully Sunday if i can get out to the trap range.

I had zero expectations when I purchased my Charles Daly 410 o/u for what it is I am very impressed shoots / points well and 1/2 dozen rabbits wished it didn't. They don't break the bank and are good for the price point shoot and enjoy it. Looking forward to your review next week,

When you say that "they apparently have a bad name" I would assume that you would be referring to the latest Charles Daly guns.

Charles Daly has been importing firearms into the US since the late 1800's and I don't think they ever manufactured a firearm themselves but I could be wrong. Many of these manufacturers made good products and were very reputable companies such as Beretta, Bernadelli, Sabatti, Zastava, Pietta, Zabala and Miroku. These firearm's generally were not high end by any means but have a solid reputation for the most part. I understand the new over and under guns are made by a Turkish company called Merak, not a company I know anything about but that is likely key to where the "bad Name" reputation comes from.
Good luck with your new purchase, give us a range report after a few rounds of trap!

I got a buyuk huglu 12 guage a while back and it seems ok so far
Guess time will tell if it holds up or not
Was thinking of getting a 20 gauge one too
I’m just shooting clays in the backyard so don’t need anything fancy
