Hi everyone,

a bit new to the hunting scene, looking at purchasing a bolt action hunting rifle, 300 mag, 30-06, 7mm or something similar that I can hunt most BC big game with. There are two new rifles for sale in a local buy sell paper, both new, a 300 win mag and a 7mm mag Charles daly (daily) rifles, $550 each. I am having a tough time trying to find Charles daily rifles on on the internet and do not know if these are good prices or not. does anyone have any of these rilfes or heard much about them, are they well priced etc? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Charles Daly ( http://www.charlesdaly.com/index.asp ) was an importer of the Zastava Mauser (M98) (http://www.zastava-arms.co.yu/english/civilni.htm look at the M70) barreled actions, before Remington took it over (now it's called the Remington 798). They are now discontinued (by Charles Daly, but still handled by Remington (http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/centerfire_rifles/model_798/ )).
The actions are as good a modern M98 can be, sometimes lacking a bit of finishing detail. At this price, it's good enough to buy, yit will last you for a long time and it's cheaper than the Remington version.

great, thanks for the information, so these 'new' Charles Daly rifles must have been sittin around for a while. how long have they been discontinued for?

Discontinued maybe 4yrs.
The Rem 798 is the exact same rifle produced by Zastava except the Daly stocks took like mirrors.

Daly still got some rifles in stock about 1 1/2 year ago, left from their last order. So, it's not that old, don't worry.
