I might have a line on a Charles Daly 306 sxs. I wonder how the quality of this lower end Spanish gun would compare to a CZ? Thought I was sold on CZ but i'm having second thoughts based on some less than stellar reviews. Seems 1/2 the reviews praise them and half are negative? My buddy has a Daly o/u but its a Japanese one so no connection unfortunately.

Regarding the CZ reviews, as with many guns, the reviews are done by people who have never owned one. They are going by what they heard from a friend of a friend who said the gun was crap. Granted, the early CZ's before 2007 had problems, mainly firing pin problems. However, the problems have since been corrected and the guns are good value for the money. Even people who were bashing them on other forums admit that they are a lot better now. Not saying the odd one won't have problems, every gun maker has--that's why there is warranty and with CZ it is 5 years. Now if you are going to do high volume shooting, then these guns weren't designed for that and don't claim to be.

Not looking for a sporting clays gun. I have a couple Citoris when I want to play that game. I'm just looking for a grouse/woodcock gun which would maybe shoot 100 rds a year and that include a round of clays to warm up in the fall.

The CZ will do that with no problem. I have the Ringneck and wood to metal fit is very good. For a $1100.00 gun, it has decent wood, mirror like barrels, hand checkering and hand engraving beit very minimal.

Can you still get parts for a Charles Daly. Friend has a different model out of service due to parts no longer being produced??

I have a CZ Redhead and it’s a really nice shotgun for the money. Very tastefully engraved and it's a quality piece. 5 years of warranty and a warranty center for CZ is here in Canada. It’s a year old now, got it January 2011 and I put on average a brick of shells (100 rounds) per month through it. I also got 8 grouse with it during hunting season. I'm very happy with it and I want to get a Ringneck next.

Some Charles Daly's are absolute pieces of s$%t, I know a few people who attended a marketing seminar and shoot put on by Charles Daly in Quebec maybe 20 years ago or so. They had set up a big Pheasant circle shoot and the fellows I spoke to selected a semi-auto and an over-under, bothe guns were broken within a few shots functioning only as single shot.

I'd steer clear.
