Charles Lancaster 470NE

Better to have one nice double and one bolt gun, than a pile of Remingtons and Tikkas.

That is why I sold lots of my rifles, nothing ugly or plastic(3 Ruger no1) to put money towards an real nice rifle, not a double but who knows maybe one day I’ll sell more of my stuff to afford a double especially if I could find one less than $8-9k!!

The best things in life aren't free!

Don't discount the German doubles either. Very attainably priced, though less cachet than their British cousins.

My square doubles have been better, in functional terms if not in art, than my Brits. Was lucky to have the very best Brit for ten years as well to compare to my Merkel side by side pun intended, in the same bore.

Very few here couldn’t get within range of a Sabatti at the low end, a Merkel at the high end if we consolidate the cabinet. They’re fun enough you don’t miss the rest much.

Yes Ralf Martini would be a good place to start. Martin is pretty much retired now due to health reasons.
I've done engraving work for both of them.
How much work it would take to clean up that engraving depends on several factors.
Unfortunately it's hard to tell the real condition of the engraving from those pictures.
The other big issue is how deep the cuts have to be to clean up a particular piece and how hard the surface might be.
To do a full re-cut it's likely that the receiver would have to be annealed and then re color case hardened.
As others here have mentioned. It starts to get pricey and the rifle will have crossed the country to various craftsmen
before it's all done. Fortunately we do have them still in this country.

Oh and they are not 25k cause I wouldn’t have one made! It should be 13k all in landed at my door and that is in Canadian!

Considering what k95's and their ilk are going for that's an absolute steal for such a unique action and a bespoke gun.

I am also, a little jealous. Still. Wouldn't mind a double in the safe though...
