ok who is getting them to make a canada barrel?

Charter Arms are junk...sorry. Read some internet reviews on how off the sights are, front post and how little thing guns last...they fall apart.

New batch? Do elaborate for those of us who are clueless.:D

Not a slam o the product, just a relative void on reviews by Canadians buying the recent models.

The .38 and .44 spec versions have been available for a while, and I'm not hearing much about them. There was also to have been a .40 S&W model introduced.

Hopeful, but cautious at the moment.

Good to know thanks.

The funky spring trick on the S&W 547 is pretty neat and works well.

I understood that Charter Arms had a hiccup getting these revolvers out the door because of some patent issue with Ruger who had also created a "funky spring trick". I have never seen either Ruger's spring trick 9mm or the Charter Arms revolver in person. The pictures and schematics look intriguing enough.

The real trick without moon clips is to keep the tapered shell from backing out and binding up the revolver. The 547 has a second pin above the firing pin to hold in the shell. I recently tried an S&W 940 with no moon clips and had a couple of f-t-f (chamber too deep) and one of those rare revolver jams due to the cartridge backing out when fired. The empties were easy enough to flick out with a fingernail or just some gentle pressure toward the extractor star and out they came. You could see how a modest spring trick could work for extraction. I'd worry about retaining the spent shells though.

For competition, moon clips are the only way to go. Speedloaders are too slow and a bit iffy compared to moon clips. Aside from the practical impossibility of a partial reload with moon clips, there's no excuse not to use them where you can.
