Ive seen a lot of mixed reviews about this revolver. From crappy to decent. I am looking for a .22 revolver and was just wondering what the experienced people here think about it. If they have one, shot one or just gave up on it. videos Ive watched just leave me kinda hung up and not sure weather its worth the 400 bucks or if i would just be blowing my money on something i regret.

I Like the idea of a .22 revolver cause if i shot my Glock 17 as much as i wanted to.... i'd be in the poor house. always wanted a revolver as well. but im finding the 22's quite fun and cheap.

cheers

I guess i should also mention, one guy i saw sent his in for repair as well. All they did was file down the barrel a bit because it protruded a bit into the cylinder and prevented it from turning properly. Thats the only cause of malfunction i can find on this gun.

Pure reliability in functioning isn't the only issue with a rimfire revolver. There's also the trigger pull. Thread after thread always comes down to the simple fact that the S&W Model K22 or Model 17 has the trigger that keeps folks taking the gun out steadily to the range. The rest all have overly heavy or gritty double action trigger pulls. OK, or a Colt Officer's Match if you can find one.

Some say that it doesn't matter since they shoot the guns in single action most/all of the time. If you feel that is the case in your situation then perhaps look around at single action revolvers. With the right method they don't take a lot longer to shuck and re-load than the hand ejector models. And you can find versions that are quite reasonably priced. If you don't want to pay for a Ruger Single Six there are a few others that are going to work that cost less. The Pietta 1873 in .22LR looks like a nice option. Or you can look around for a Heritage Rough Rider.

Otherwise although I know it hurts the bank account I strongly suggest that you suck it up and get a S&W to get the great DA trigger that compares well to the center fire guns.

if some one blind folded you..and then put the gun in your hands, to feel the fit and finish and "wiggle" of the cylinder......You would sware that the gun was completly worn out ! Charter arms have alot of POOR tolerances. I had an old herbert Shmidt 22 that felt like a cadilac compared to the Charter.

Do you like older revolvers? S&J Hardware have a batch of old Webley Mk.IV .22LR training revolvers coming in sometime in January.

Sorry, I see that this thread is a couple months old, but I appreciate the input from those above who posted.

I saw both this and the Alfa at a local shop for the $400-$450 mark, and I've been pondering it. I don't mind paying more to get better, but the issue I see is that the S&W 617 is full-size so the weight may be an issue for my wife and kids, and the Ruger seems to have too heavy of a trigger.

Can anyone point me to something that is better than the Charter Arms quality-wise, but is still relatively small/light?
