CHAS 3 Gun 2018

March 17: Skills and Drills/Work Day/Swap Meet

On March 17th, we'll be doing a skills and drills day on the 50 meter bay. If you're new to 3 gun, this is the perfect time to come out and try our props against your guns and learn about gear before our matches start. Bring your pistol+rifle+shotgun and about 100-200 rounds of each. There will be a $5 fee to help cover the cost of consumables for the skills and drills.

Skills and Drills start time: 8:00am
Skills and Drills end time: 1:00pm

After the Skills and Drills, we'll perform a short work day: repairing any props that need repair from last year, drilling new drainage holes for rain, etc. Bring work gloves and appropriate clothing, bring a cordless drill or saw if you can. We'll do a painting day later in the year when it's a bit warmer and paint actually stands a chance at drying.

Swap Meet: Because we anticipate a lot of new 3 gunners, please bring any gear that you no longer use that you may want to sell to a new 3 gunner.

Can I request that your scoring team give their Practiscore event names a more friendly name? Include something searchable in the name, like CHAS, Edmonton, Alberta, Spruce Grove, whatever CHAS stands for...

Yes, the last one was a mistake, but future scoring event names will be more descriptive.

Adriel, I keep getting the following message when I try to register for the April match: Captcha Failed. Please try again.
Any idea how to fix ? I don't want to miss out on this shoot.

Ok, I got registered for the match, but was put on a waiting list even though there were 6-8 empty spots on the squad list. Any idea how long it will take before I know if I can shoot this match ?

I am on the wait list too, even though squads shows 12 open spots. Please advise.
Thanks

As of 2 days ago there is 18 people on the wait-list. We are having higher numbers than past years, partially due to the long range bay being open this year and by efforts of the exec to build on the league and its reputation.

The last match had a large entry and in order to have dynamic and enough stages to keep the match interesting and still get everyone through in a day we capped registration for the April match at 40 competitors. We are allotted 3 bays for the monthly shoots so we can only break into 3 squads. This causes the rotation through stages to take longer than having 6 squads running 6 stages.

Since this is a new problem for the league we are working to manage how many competitors make for the best match, we are also trying to determine the best way to insure that we don't have competitors registering and not showing up, when someone else could have had the opportunity to shoot. We are also attempting to encourage competitors to un-register if they are unable to attend so we can offer that opening to the people on the wait list.

Even though the match is at capacity, the squads may not appear full, but that does not mean there are spots available, it just means that competitors have registered and have not chosen to pick a squad. They will be assigned a squad prior to the match. The monthly matches will open for registration on Practiscore one month prior to the match, there will be a reminder posted on the CHAS 3-gun Facebook page when registration opens.

Hopefully this information helps

Thanks for the clarification.

Can you post the wait list order so we can determine if it makes sense to come to the match?

Great shoot yesterday. Weather was a bit damp, but challenging stages made it a fun day. Thanks to the CHAS guys for their work.
Note to self: install fresh batteries into all optics before next match.

Thanks to the Match Director and RO's for all the work they do.

2 bits of good news everybody:

1. The range has got the 25M bay approved for use during our matches, which means another bay has opened up.
2. The CHAS executive has graciously allowed use of the WHOLE range for our 2 day match in June, AND for our regular matches in July, August, and September.

This means we can bump up the max number of attendees. With 5 bays instead of the 3 we had before, we'll really need your help in fast resets because we're going to be shooting more stages in a day.

Thank you to the CHAS executive for granting us the whole place for our Summer matches, thanks to everyone who helped represent 3 gun at club meetings and club events, and thanks for everyone's patience as we ramp up our capacity with all this renewed interest in 3 gun this year.

Adriel, can you clarify the '2 day' vs '3 day' for the 2 day match? Practiscore reg lists two Saturday and Sunday, but post#1 here lists 3 days.
