It is partly that we set up a large amount of targets with a high round count, and partly that we try to include some harder engagements that require the shooter to slow down and get the sight picture. Eg., the rifle stage had 1/2 size IPSC steel targets staged at 200m and 300m with limited round count to hit them. With misses being such a high penalty, people will invest the time to make the hits. Plus, I think the guys enjoy the challenge of hitting that far out when they get a chance too.
Stage 2 had a round count of:
30 - pistol
28 - carbine
8 - shotgun
(limited round count)
Our first stage:
22 - pistol
20 - shotgun
5 - slugs
(unlimited)
Stage 3:
Rifle 20 - with targets out to 300m
Pistol 20
(limited round count and many where running out with targets left standing)
Stage 4:
6 rifle - with targets at 100m, 200m, 300m. 1 round on each
6 rounds pistol after rifle.
Quick stage with transitions just to wrap up the day.
