Chased on an ATV?!

Family friend the other day was out on his farm just outside of Quesnel BC touring his fields on an ATV. He stopped his ATV and was checking a fence when a HUGE black wolf came out of the brush. It pawed the ground then let out a long howl. Out of the brush came 5 more wolves and started to run at him. He wasn't carrying his rifle at the time so he jumped onto his ATV and took off but they kept chasing him. At one point he had to stop the bike and get off to open up a gate which almost let them catch up. Finally though the wolves got tired of chasing him or something but stopped and turned around.

I would be a little scared... and wouldn't go anywhere without a gun anymore! The went back the next day searching to see if there was a killed animal around and that was maybe the reason the wolves chased him but there was nothing dead around there, not even parts.

2) Anyone who's told me that wolves won't chase people are the same people who also try to tell me that a moose or a deer will never attack a human :rolleyes:
 
We have an abundance of wolves here in Quesnel that's for sure. While I have not had the good fortune to actually have any come withing range ... I keep hoping. Now what your buddy experianced .. that's a little too close !
