Chassis/Stock Recommendations. MDT TAC 21?

I had the gen 1 mdt.
It is basically v block bedding, the action does only touch on two strips on the side/bottom.
Discovered that when I did a bedding job on it in search of more accuracy.
In the end a cheap hogue stock with no bedding was more accurate, and an aics much more accurate.
The buttstock "cap" developed some wiggle after a while, could have been the problem...

I do have the facts.........It does not have V-shaped bedding..........I am guessing a mis-print on the web site.....

Well, I am pleased to stand corrected.

They must not have updated the web site since the previous version of the product.

If you are friends with the owner/designer then you will know the original design did have a V-Block and I am pleased to see they have made this update. It's a very positive move and positions the product to compete with any tube kit out there. Thats just great.

Being that this is such a positive change and that the previous model had the shortcoming mentioned, it would be nice if they update thier web site to draw in people who dismissed the earlier model.

They should show pictures from the angle you did in your pictures so there is no mistake.

Is the top rail available 'machined out' with no extended rail? I was hoping not to have to buy new rings, and I don't really need any additional rail real estate up top. :)

I think Skullboy posted a pic of the machined top before.. is it an option?

The modified fore end rail is available on the MDT website.......

I run Badger Ordnance high rings with a 56mm scope objective.........

Just drop them a line to confirm availability............

Perfect - thanks!

I guess I could just run higher rings... I mean I won't need my Near Mfg 20MOA base, so I could just sell that to pay for them. :) Much appreciated Skullboy...

Because the ergonomics are similar to an AR, some may not need nor want the relieved forend.

For me, I use a very very tall scope set up on my AR so I am comfy with a scope. The scope is no where near the forend.

For others, they may use a different set up. Before deciding on what you "need", figure out what fits your build and shooting positions.

Then pick the parts that make YOU comfy.
